What Factors Affect The Flow Rate Transfered By A Peristaltic Pump?

When the peristaltic pump is used normally, the output flow of the peristaltic pump is very unstable, exclude some intuitive reasons such as pump heads, pump tubes, drivers, etc. besides, there is another reason that is easily ignored. When the peristaltic pump transfering liquid, the influence of liquid viscosity, head and liquid properties on the flow rate of peristaltic pump.

1. Effect of liquid viscosity on peristaltic pumps

The viscosity of liquid is a detail that is easy to be ignored when selecting a peristaltic pump. Generally, when customers asking our products, we will ask, what kind of liquid is it? Strong acid and alkali, liquid viscosity, the original intention of our question is that when the viscosity of the liquid reaches a certain value, the flow rate of the pumped liquid will be smaller than that of the pumped water due to the limited pumping capacity of the hose. The higher the viscosity, the more the flow will be reduced.

2. The effect of the length of the pump tube on the peristaltic pump

The peristaltic pump has the ability of self-priming while having the ability to transfer liquid, theoretically at the same atmospheric pressure, the maximum suction stroke of transmission can reach about 10m, however, in practice, the flow rate of the peristaltic pump will be attenuated. And the suction lift increases by one meter, peristaltic pump flow is attenuated by 15%, if there is a high demand for suction lift, optionally finer inner diameter, thicker walled hose, also choose a higher drive.

3. The influence of the material of the pump tube on the peristaltic pump

The service life of hoses of different materials and specifications will also be different, it is necessary to choose a hose suitable for life according to the usage. Compared with the domestic silicone tube, the PharmedBPT tube has a longer life and better air tightness. For example, when doing anaerobic bacteria culture experiments, the air tightness of the pump tube is very important, which can prevent the outside oxygen from entering the culture bacteria through the pipeline. In addition, in addition to the chemical compatibility and life of imported pump tubes, the hardness is higher than that of domestic silicone tubes. Therefore, when choosing the pump tube and driver selection,  also consider the effect of pump tube hardness on the driver. If the selected driver torque is too low, it may not be able to press the inlet pump tube.
